Job Description

There are professions that change trajectories. Being a specialized education technician at CSSMB is one of them. Alongside students with disabilities or difficulties, you participate in intervention plans, lead educational activities, support learning, de-escalate crises, and assist them in their behavior modification process with method and kindness. In collaboration with various stakeholders, you create the conditions that allow them to learn, grow, and find their place.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and writing of the intervention plan for the student in difficulty;

  • Develop, organize, and lead educational or pedagogical support activities, cultural, recreational, and sports activities aimed at developing social, cognitive, psychomotor, communication skills, or others;

  • Support the student in their learning, particularly in class; help them with reading and writing and provide explanations; assist them in learning lessons and completing homework;

  • Observe the situation and intervene with students in reaction to their environment; provide them with a helping relationship; use, during a crisis, intervention techniques that can promote a return to calm and order; accompany them in their behavior modification process; support the teacher in ensuring a conducive learning environment in the classroom;

  • Meet with students, parents, and teaching staff to advise, inform, and provide them with relevant documentation and references.

Requirements

Hold a college diploma (DEC) in one of the following disciplines:
• Special Care Counselling;
• Social Work Techniques;
• Delinquency Intervention Techniques;
• or hold a diploma or certificate of studies whose equivalence is recognized by the competent authority.

Or:

Hold one (1) general college diploma (DEC) and two (2) certificates from the following:
• Certificate in Psychoeducational Intervention;
• Certificate in Mental Health: Foundations and Intervention Practices;
• Certificate in Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder Intervention;
• Certificate in Victimology;
• Certificate in Criminology;
• Certificate in Addiction Prevention;
• Certificate in Educational Intervention in Family and Community Settings;
• Certificate in Youth Intervention: Foundations and Practices.

Or:

Hold one (1) undergraduate university degree (BAC) in one of the following:
• Psychology;
• Psychoeducation;
• Social Work;
• Social Services;
• School Adaptation;
• Addiction;
• Criminology.

Or:

Hold a college studies attestation (AEC) of 60 credits (or more) in one of the following disciplines:
• Special Education Techniques;
• Social Work Techniques;

**** Diplomas (AEC in Special Education / AEC in Social Work of less than 60 credits) are accepted but do not grant access to a regular position. *****

  • Have a good ability to adapt, good stress management, and be autonomous;

  • Be rigorous, organized, and have a strong interest in teamwork;

  • Possess good judgment and excellent problem-solving skills;

  • Be empathetic, patient, and prioritize the well-being and safety of children.
